Happy 4th of July weekend!
As I’m working a wedding today out in Pittsburgh, I have to pause and be thankful for living in this great country. As many of you know I’m originally from Puerto Rico, and in case you didn’t know Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States which makes me ….an american citizen. Woo Hoo!
I can only remember growing up in Puerto Rico and longing to one day live in the United States. It was truly one of my life’s dreams to be here. So when I got to pack all my belongings in a few boxes and move to the US to attend a school in the middle of a cornfield in Indiana…. I was deliriously happy. As I wish you all a Happy 4th of July, I wanted to remind you that this day is a about a lot more than grilling, eating and blowing up fireworks til your hearts content. It’s a day to be thankful that you live in the home of the free. Remember it’s not that way everywhere in this world. Nor are the many opportunities that living in this great country affords you, so remember to be thankful and not to take it for granted.
Happy and safe 4th of July weekend!
